Horsley, Bookham & Leatherhead RDA are delighted to announce the start of their Summer Demo Series. Across the month of June, we will be hosting 4 fabulous evenings on Tuesday nights in our new indoor arena. The demos will run from 6.30-9pm, but you are welcome from 6pm onwards to view our facilities, meet some of our ponies and enjoy your welcome drink.
Our speakers are very knowledgeable and experienced equestrian experts – each passionate about developing our relationship with our horses. You will gain insights, understanding and take aways to work on at home. Please do join us – all proceeds go to our wonderful charity so we can continue to provide therapeutic riding sessions for local disabled children and young adults.
Here’s a sneak previous of what’s coming up – please come to one or come to all. There is a wide selection of demos to cater for all varieties of interest areas and abilities. We promise you will have a great evening, learn a lot and support a great cause. We hope to see you very soon.

Tickets: £15 per adult, including welcome drink, £7.50 for children
6th June – Jumping: progressing through the stages from novice horse (OTTR) starting work on poles; a newer combination of horse and rider working to develop a confidence relationship, to a more advanced (let’s just say confident over 85cms!!) combination who are still on an eternal quest for greatness! Hosted by Jonathan Cook, you will see the techniques and exercises which help each of these three demo riders and horses progress and develop. A great option for all those wanting to improve their jumping this summer.
13th June – Equine First Aid for Horses – hosted by Mayers and Scrine Vets. Wow – if you own a horse you should be coming to this one. Know what to do when a horse chokes? Can spot the signs of colic? Any idea on how to tie a torniquet? Well this education demo night is a must attend if your pony club tests are well behind you and it was a while since you flicked through any equine manuals. Two hours which will help inform you and help improve your horse’s welfare. Gain knowledge and education, whilst enjoying a glass of vino!
20th June – Natural Horsemanship demo with Sarah Ryan – she’s back by popular demand. After the success of her AMAZING demo in November, Sarah is back. Last time she bought the wonderful Rocky along and showed off all her tricky – wowing us with the trust and harmony with the relationship they have between them. Rocky demoed all his moves, and showed us a range of the ‘games’ Sarah has been working on with him. This is a brilliant demo which helps you understand the horse mindset, and helps give you ideas for ground work and relationship building. You’ll learn a lot and have plenty of new things to practice afterwards.
27th June – Pole work for Dressage, with Sam Osborn. This is a must attend demo night if you want to improve your horse’s way of going, get that back end engagement and up the marks in your summer dressage performances. Sam is a very experienced coach, who manages international Olympic teams, so you’ll be learning from the very best. Her pole work classes are a fantastic work out – in this demo you’ll get ideas, advice and inspiration on getting the very best marks possible.
